________________________________________________
Representative Michael J.
Rodrigues (D-Westport) announces that $25,000,000 has been secured in the
House Transportation Bond Bill to fund several critically needed transportation
projects in
Fall River
and
Westport
. The transportation bond bill is responsible for funding several important
projects throughout the Commonwealth.
Among the project appropriations secured by Representative Rodrigues are
$7,000,000 for the re-pavement of Route 6 in
Westport
which has been in need of work for sometime. Additional funding includes
$1,000,000 for the expansion, repair and
improvement of sanitary facilities along state highways that utilizes zero
pollution discharge technologies including recycling greywater systems. This is
an environmentally safe alternative to traditional systems and is already in
place at
Horseneck
State
Beach
and Campgrounds.
$10,000,000 has been appropriated for the construction and improvement of
additional parking facilities in the center of
Fall River
. This is part of the city’s plan to
make the downtown more accessible to all citizens. Lastly, an additional
$8,000,000 was secured for the repainting of the
Braga
Bridge
in
Fall River
.
Said Representative Rodrigues, “I am overjoyed at being able to provide
funding for these projects within
Westport
and
Fall River
. These are very important issues to my constituents, and I am happy to serve
them in this fashion. I look forward to working with officials from both
communities to see these projects completed”.
